Everyone knows that quality starts in the orchards, but we also know that it doesn’t finish when the cherries are in the box. We want our fruit to reach the final consumer in the best possible condition even if that consumer is on the other side of the world, so we pay attention to every possible detail to ensure satisfaction whenever they eat one of our cherries.
Our cherries are all packed on the very latest optical grading lines where they are sorted according to size, quality and defects. Chilled immediately after they arrive from the orchard, carried by water throughout the process to protect them from damage, these cherries have the best possible treatment on their way to the final packing stage. There we use the highest quality packaging materials, cool the finished pallets and ship them as soon as possible to guarantee bright shiny fruit with healthy green stems and a deliciously crunchy texture – and happy consumers every time!
We back up our promises with highly skilled quality assurance technicians at all stages of production, but at Global Fruit we believe quality is everyone’s job and the whole team is checking the fruit we sell every day throughout the season.
Food Safety is a cornerstone of our business. The GLOBALG.A.P Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard covers safe and responsible farming practices, and we require all our exclusive growers in Canada to have a valid GLOBALG.A.P IFA certificate. We also work closely with a small number of growers on non-exclusive terms, and we require them all to have a valid CanadaGAP certificate as a minimum. 100% of our fruit is traceable back to the orchards, and we use certified labs to test for pesticide residues, heavy metals and pathogens.
The packing houses run HACCP systems and are compliant with GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Handling Assurance (PHA) and/or CanadaGAP Safe Food Handling Option C. The packing houses are also inspected and approved as part of the US FDA FSVP (Foreign Supplier Verification Program) and for the Canada Air Cargo Security Program. In addition, Global Fruit is a member of the CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism).
